Wifey to Be

Wifey to be….that’s me! Wedding prep is definitely underway and September will be here before you know it. Planning on doing a monthly wedding update here on the blog starting in February. So stay tuned!! Now on to this post…

Freezing temperatures and snow covered ground. Who is ready for spring? I have had my fix of the cold and I am almost ready to see it go. Although I do love cold weather clothing, this getting up and wondering if the roads are drivable is not idea. Anyway, I am loving this outfit I have on in this post. My puffy vest collection has been on full rotation during the cold months. I paired this one with leggings that have leather accents, my black wifey sweatshirt (which is most important), a leopard print scarf and tank, and ducks boots (which I am truly thankful for in this weather). What is your favorite snow day outfit? Shop mine below.

Serengeti Coat

Shop: Coat | Bag | Tunic | Jeans | Booties | Lipsticks

Get it, while the getting is good! This Serengeti Coat is almost gone so if you are in love with it, then I am here to tell you that it will be going away this Friday (January 19th) for good. The coat is made of Mohair wool, which means it is super soft and warm. Plus, the pattern is gorgeous. Every time I wear it I get compliments on it. I paired the coat with skinny jeans and a black tunic. It has quickly became a staple in my wardrobe and it is the perfect piece for travel and being a tourist. I accessorized with a suede hobo cross body and tan booties. If you are on the fence about the coat it is so worth it!

Up for Anything

Shop the Up for Anything Tight: 7/8 Length | Capri | Crop

Are you sticking to your resolutions?? I am motivated to reach the goals I set for 2018. That is why I am voicing them to my followers, so you can keep me accountable. My first resolution was to take better care of my skin (day 10 and I am still all in!), and now my second is to wear stylish athletic clothes (lol!), no really it is to get in shape for my up coming wedding (September will be here before you know it), but I definitely plan to be stylish while doing it. This is why I have fallen in love with the Athleta Up for Anything Tight. These tights are amazing and here is why:

*The versatility of them are what you are looking for. From barre to pilates to strength training or a 5k run, these tights are definitely Up for Anything.

*They are made from a new sculpteck light fabric so the fit is light weight and they have lighter compression then most, that still allows full movement with support. Basically they are super comfy and you are going to want to wear them all the time.

*They have pockets!! No one is probably more happy about this then me! Athlesiure attire with pockets are my favorite. It means you can go straight from working out to running errands or vice versa. The tights have enough places to hold all your personal items while on the go. There are 4 pockets- 2 side stash packets, 1 zip pocket, and 1 internal key pocket.

*No flip waistband. How many pants have you had that flip over at the top? I hate that. These don’t roll at the top.

*Athleta even thought of safety. The 7/8 and full length have a reflective trim sewn into the bottom hem on the inside. So when you go for that early morning or night run, you just flip up the hem for a much needed reflective feature.

Tell me you don’t already think they are awesome and you haven’t even tried them yet? 🙂

Playing Tourist

Playing tourist is one of my favorite things. Who is with me? This time I was playing tourist in New Orleans for New Year’s and Ben’s birthday. We did enjoye the local food, such as gumbo, red beans and rice, and jambalaya to name a few. If you want to taste some of the best local food try Mother’s Restaurant, but fyi there is always a line out the door so get there early. We visited the popular places such as Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, but what we really loved was Frenchmen Street. This is the place you want to go if you want to hear the iconic New Orleans jazz and blues sounds of the city. Plus more locals hangout there. You won’t be disappointed. If you are in the city I definitely suggest taking a swamp tour, or a Steamboat Natchez jazz cruise. There are waterways all over New Orleans. Also, don’t forget the biegnets at Cafe Du Monde. What are you favorite NOLA spots?

Great Denim with RoxyNell Jeans

Shop my favorite off the shoulders: One | Two | Three | Four | Five

Off the shoulder is my jam! Who is with me? Showing a little shoulder is stylish and sexy. Especially if it compliments a great pair of custom fitted jeans. These jeans are from RoxyNell (follow them on Instagram here for an update on their launch). RoxyNell is based in Louisville, KY and they focuses on Bourbon, Baseball and Denim.

Custom fitted are a must if you want the right look for your body type, and RoxyNell has done it right with these trouser jeans. The color is great and they pair well with mostly any top. The things I love about trouser jeans are that they are acceptable for causal days at work, date night and even running errands.

Do you have a favorite pair of jeans? Shop my outfit below.

Alli Travels: Canberra Australia

We all know that I love to travel! So I definitely take advantage of seeing the world when I can. As you know last month I had the opportunity to explore many parts of Australia. While exploring this beautiful county I was able to visit Canberra, which is the national capital. The name Canberra means “Meeting Place” in the Aboriginal language. The territory of Canberra is very gubernatorial, modeled after Washing DC, having the Federal Parliament located in the city’s center, it was selected as the capital in 1908 as a compromise between the rivals Sydney and Melbourne, which are Australia’s two largest cities.

Canberra is home to many amazing sites such as Parliament House, The Australian War Memorial, the National Gallery, the National Museum, an amazing view from the Black Mountains, and the native Kangaroos. So there is a lot of history and a lot to see in this town. Make sure you set aside at least 2-3 days to view it all and take it all in. Find out all you need to know to plan your trip to Canberra here.

If you are planning to explore Canberra I suggest wearing something comfortable because there can be a lot of walking depending on the activities you do though out the day. I planned my outfit around visiting museums, so I wore comfy jeans and shoes. See all the great pictures of my experience in Canberra below and also shop the look.

Alli Travels: Sorrento Australia

The whole continent of Australia is beautiful. I spent my time there in the states of Victoria and New South Wales. Sorrento is a townships in Victoria that I had the opportunity to visit. Located off the shores of Port Phillip Bay in the Mornington Peninsula and about an hour and a half from the city of Melbourne, Sorrento is a great getaway.

This quaint village is sprawling with amazing views, boutiques, and eateries. If being on the water is your thing take a full day Kayaking Tour (details here), or capture the scenic views on the Sorrento-Portsea Artists Trail. If you are a foodie Sorrento is known for its vanilla slice, Just Fine Food is known to have a tasty one and if you are staying a little longer Stringer Store is the go-to grocery for visitors and locals. Sorrento also has great shopping. A couple of my favorite stops were Country Road, Witchery, and Emia. Although I was only there for a day trip, I also know that Sorrento has some prime real estate and some great places to stay for a weekend holiday. Check out the Sorrento Beach House or the Buoys on Queens.

When we finished our day walking around the local strip we took the Seared Ferries, a 40 minute boat ride, from Sorrento to Queenscliff, which is the gateway to Great Ocean Road (a must see) for our next adventure. Check out the video below where you might see some dolphins.

Planning your trip to Sorrento? Websites to check out are visitvictoria.com and sorrento.org.au

Geometrics and Graffiti in Melbourne

Shop: Flats | Tote | Geometric Dresses: One | Two | Three | Four | Five

Graffiti….one of the best back drops for a photo, especially for a blogger. These works of art are all over the lane ways in Melbourne, Australia. You can find this one outside of Spice Market, a great place to grab a drink if you are in town. The decor is enough to make you want to stop in.

The graffiti goes great with a this geometric print dress (similar here), that I paired with black flats and a oversized tote, which is idea for travel. As you will see me toting it all around Australia in my next couple post. So stay tuned, many Australia travel post to come!

I Want a Brownstone in Chelsea

Who doesn’t want a brownstone in NYC? If I ever really do live in the city I totally think a brownstone is the way to go. Now all I have to do is figure out how to pay for it. This is definitely a future goal. For now I will just take pictures in front of cute ones. When I was in NYC last week, that is exactly what I did.

While navigating through Chelsea and other great areas such as the High Line (A 1.45 mile linear park in Manhattan that is elevated on one of NYC’s old railroad), I was a total tourist and used the city as my back drop. If you are ever in NYC you must visit the High Line.

For my outfit while taking it all in, I went for the comfortable but put together look. It was great for the continuous walking we did while there. I paired skinny jeans with a gingham button down, and a puff vest, which is idea for the colder weather. I accessorized the look with riding boots (great for walking long distances, considering I was doing an average of 25k each day), a tote to hold all my gear and sunnies since it was a bright sunny day.

This was a great outfit to play tourist in. What is your favorite outfit to explore a city? Shop my outfit below.
